With the UK facing a growing housing crisis and the urgent need for sustainable construction solutions, the spotlight is turning to offsite timber frame manufacturing. On Thursday 3 July, David Crawford, Managing Director of Deeside Timberframe, will speak at the UK Timber Design Conference in London as part of a high-profile panel discussion exploring how timber-made solutions can meet the nation’s housing and climate ambitions.
The session, titled Timber-Made Solutions to the Housing Crisis, will run from 11:40 to 12:40 at Hamilton House and will bring together key players from across the supply chain. David will be joined by Ness Scott (Greencore Homes), Robin Dodyk (CALA Group), and Ed Griffiths (Barbour ABI), offering insight into how timber frame construction is already transforming housing delivery—and what still needs to change to unlock its full potential.
With a focus on deliverability and industry readiness, the panel will reflect on sector-wide challenges such as planning, procurement and skills, while highlighting the opportunity timber presents to build faster, greener and at scale. Drawing on David’s experience at the helm of one of the UK’s largest offsite timber frame manufacturers, the session promises to be a must-attend for anyone looking to understand the future of sustainable housebuilding.
Organised by Timber Development UK, the UK Timber Design Conference is the largest event of its kind in the country. Backed by Swedish Wood and PEFC, it brings together hundreds of architects, engineers, developers, local authorities and manufacturers to explore low-carbon construction.
